Christmas Camp Recap 2022

Christmas Camp Recap 2022

Time to add a couple more holes so we can buckle our belts ey, I’m stuffed (pardon the pun). I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

At Ultimate Kids we have all had a fun filled festive period with our diverse food workshops and competitive Christmas-themed games. We would like to thank those who came and we hope that you all enjoyed yourself as much as we did… let’s have a little Christmas Camp recap.

Our Food Workshops

Coach Rob led our food workshops with some interesting stories about the background of the workshops which we all enjoyed. Our team felt the gingerbread men were the biggest hit, where coach Rob set a goal for our camp to make a gingerbread community. However, I feel the marshmallow snowman skewers were also a particular standout in terms of workshops as the children got to take them home at the end of the day to show off to parents, guardians, and family members.

Hands on food workshops are always a hit with the staff and children during our Ultimate Kids Camps, a key goal of our workshops are for children to have fun, get creative and also share; this meant sharing icing for gingerbread men decorating, sharing marshmallow for snowman skewers and sharing strawberries and cream for Santa hats. We feel this creates an inclusive community and creates more positive social outcomes amongst the kids.

Christmas Camp Games

Each day started the same, with our first activity being Coach Rob’s riddles; the children particularly  struggled particularly with one riddle -“Cowboy rode into town on Sunday, stayed for 2 days then left on Friday, how did he do it?” Can you solve Rob’s riddle?

A particular favourite amongst our team was the snowball fights and escape the Yeti. For the snowball fights we used cotton snowballs and our dodgeballs, some children on camp had never felt snow before, however, the mimic snowballs resembled the real thing very well. To escape the Yeti, we had the coaches try and tag the children as they had to last 5 minutes escaping the ‘Yetis’, however, we ended the game with Coach Rob and Coach Liam being the escapees, with both Liam and Rob lasting the full 5 minutes.

Standout Moments

During our last day before Christmas, we had a special guest visit camp. I don’t think this person cared for the naughty or nice list, but they did come bearing gifts, it was of course the…the… the… THE GRINCH!

The gifts handed out were wrapped selection boxes for children to enjoy, we can ensure all the children were happy to receive a gift, however, we were unsure whether all had a smile on their face when receiving it from the grinch. The best way to sum up the children’s reaction were tears of joy and well just… tears.

We always love to sign off the year with a festive themed camp as both staff and children are looking forward to Christmas and this time of year. At Ultimate Kids were also excited for a huge 2023 to come with our well loved camps, classes and range of services.

Thanks all.

Happy New Year and best wishes for 2023! – Coach Kieran.
