ULTIMATE KIDS TRADEMARK

Hi all,

Chris here again!

I wanted to make a quick announcement to let everyone know that Ultimate Kids has officially received its Trademark certification.

Now, to most of you, you may think it’s not a big deal and that I should have done this when I started the business back in 2020. Well, ‘Ultimate Kids’ as a brand came around one night back in 2018 to give the work I was doing as a self employed coach in one school in Widnes an identity.

Did I think it would ever be its own entity? No, definitely not. Did I believe we would be in the position we are in now? No. Did I think we would grow Ultimate Kids into one of the leading Sports Coaching businesses in relation to quality and standards? No. But, here we are… We now have 7 full time employees, 17 part time/ seasonal employees and a whole lot of great memories over the past four years. Don’t get me wrong we have had some hardships along the way as well.

Early this year my very impulsive mind sat down with Emily (The greatest Marketing star in the world and now one of my closest friends!) to draw up a plan of action for Formby Festival; something we attend each year and make £0 year after year too. We spoke about wanting to actually utilise the footflow and expose the branding better this time. Although, less than five minutes into our meeting the whiteboard pens were out (if you know, you know) and I was drawing all kinds of plans and ideas that you only really see with big corporate brands.

Side note: If you know me, you know how important brand appearance and perception is to me.

I wanted a VW Transporter van with its own branding on, a massive ball pit with thousands of Ultimate Kids balls in (10,500 to be exact) and a completely new website and branding to the business. I must add, we only had about 8 weeks for this to come to fruition…

Less than a week later we acquired a VW Transporter van. I had ordered 10,500 ball pit balls and sat down with Blaze Media to discuss a plan for branding and a website build. Now this sounds like an easy job but this was just the start… Can you imagine 10,500 thousand ball pit balls in your office space with no ball pit to put them in yet? Well, that was us. The rest is history and a story for another time… You may even be able to hear it on our new podcast dropping soon!

You’re probably thinking, ‘What is he talking about? Why does this have anything to do with a Trademark!’ Well, it has everything to do with it. As a brand and an organisation I could never have imagined the heights the team has taken it to and I need to ensure as a business owner and employer that my team is safeguarded as well as the vehicle that we use to make a difference and continue on our journey… Hence, protecting our brand ‘Ultimate Kids’ to allow us to keep the journey going.

We have some really exciting things coming this academic year and I look forward to sharing them all with you as they come around.

Take care and thank you for reading,

Chris X
